| Resumo: | The principal objective of this study is to quantitatively evaluate Burnout Syndrome in the behavior of the civil police in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre regarding their performance in the execution of their function and their social interaction. Their work conditions and relations were investigated with an emphasis on the work of the civil police and on what the police activity consists of. To contemplate the objective of this study, it was very important to verify legal aspects regarding burnout and culpability. Stress and burnout subjects were generally studied, specifying such suffering in the police. Psycho-social aspects were also studied relating the civil police with leisure activities. We sought to understand if the way in which the police officer uses his free time affects, or not, his health. This is a quantitative study, based on the discussion of data collected from three research tools: relative to burnout, leisure activities and socio-economic and professional data, in the results from a research of 91 civil police officers (valid protocols) of the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre. The study showed that the police officers who work in operational areas have a significant tendency for burnout, principally in the “depersonalization” factor, confirming the results of other research when compared with the levels of burnout in the results of civil police of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. The results of the researches strengthen the possibility that the organizational factors are associated with the development of the syndrome because type of activity was statistically insignificant for the factors of emotional exhaustion and the feeling of non-professional practice as well as total burnout. As was observed, burnout and its relation with free time in the policing area can be considered a wide expanding research field in the scientific community in general and, more specifically, amongst Psychology professionals.
Este estudo teve como objetivo principal avaliar, quantitativamente, a Síndrome de Burnout no comportamento de policiais civis da Região Metropolitana de Porto Alegre, no que diz respeito ao seu desempenho na execução da função policial e sua interação social. Investigouse o que seriam as condições e relações de trabalho, dando ênfase ao trabalho do policial civil e no que consiste a atividade policial. Para contemplar o objetivo deste estudo, considerou-se muito importante verificar os aspectos legais, no que diz respeito ao burnout e a culpabilidade. Contemplou-se os assuntos estresse e burnout, de uma maneira geral, especificando tais sofrimentos nos policiais. Aspectos psicossociais também foram estudados relacionando o policial civil com atividades de ócio. Buscou-se entender se a maneira que ele utiliza seu tempo livre influencia ou não, no seu adoecimento. Tratou-se de um estudo quantitativo, baseado na discussão de dados provenientes da aplicação de três instrumentos de pesquisa relativos ao burnout, Atividades de Ócio/Lazer e dados sócio-econômicos e profissionais, numa amostra de 91 (protocolos válidos) Policiais Civis da Região Metropolitana de Porto Alegre. O estudo mostrou que os policiais que trabalham em áreas operacionais têm um preditor significativo ao burnout, principalmente no fator “despersonalização”, confirmando os resultados de outras pesquisas quando foram comparados os níveis de burnout numa amostra de policiais civis do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Os resultados das pesquisas reforçam a possibilidade de que fatores organizacionais estejam associados ao desenvolvimento da síndrome, já que, o tipo de atividade foi estatisticamente insignificante para os fatores exaustão emocional e sentimento de não realização profissional, bem como burnout total. Conforme observado, o burnout, assim como, as relações com o tempo livre no campo policial pode ser considerado um campo de pesquisa em ampla expansão na comunidade científica em geral e entre os profissionais de Psicologia de modo específico. |
