| Abstract: | Introdução: O envelhecimento humano tem causado impacto na sociedade especialmente no sistema de saúde. A equipe de enfermagem é a responsável pelo cuidado de idosos internados, devendo possuir conhecimentos, habilidades e desejar atuar com este grupo etário. Objetivos: Identificar e analisar o contexto geográfico e socioeconômico da região de abrangência da 17ª CRS/SES/RS, a formação e o processo interacional dos profissionais da equipe de enfermagem no processo de cuidar de pessoas idosas no espaço hospitalar. Métodos: Pesquisa interpretativa, descritiva analítica, desenvolvida nos hospitais da região de abrangência da 17ª CRS/SES/RS. Participaram 15 enfermeiros, 40 técnicos e 19 auxiliares de enfermagem, que aceitaram realizar entrevista. Os dados numéricos foram analisados por meio de estatística descritiva inferencial e as informações subjetivas à luz do interacionismo simbólico. Resultados: O estudo evidenciou que o cuidar/cuidado de pessoas idosas constitui uma construção social, em que há padrões no discurso simbólico dos profissionais de enfermagem, resultado da interação com idosos internados.O tema central interconecta-se a duas categorias de análise: uma versa sobre a construção de significados a partir da interação social com idosos e a segunda a partir do cuidado a idosos no espaço hospitalar. Os profissionais ao interagir com idosos constroem símbolos positivos, refletindo no modo de cuidar de gerontes durante a hospitalização. O cuidado de enfermagem inclui: diálogo, saber ouvir, segurança, valorização das queixas e apoio dos familiares. Conclusão: A vivência interacional dos profissionais da equipe de enfermagem no processo de cuidar de idosos no hospital requer conhecimentos do processo de envelhecimento, políticas de atenção, prevenção de incapacidades, promoção do envelhecer saudável e tratamento de morbidades e reabilitação, visando um pensar e fazer da enfermagem gerontogeriátrica um novo modo de exercer sua práxis.
Introduction: Human aging has been causing impact on the society, especially in health system. The nursing team is the responsible to take care of aged people that are in the hospital, and the professionals must have knowledge, abilities, and the desire of acting with this age group. Objectives: identify and analyze the geographic and social-economical context of the area covered by 17ª CRS/SES/RS, as well as analyzing the qualification and the interaction process of the nursing team workers, in the care of aged people in the hospital environment. Methods: It is an interpretative, descriptive and analytical research. The investigation was realized in hospitals placed in the area covered by 17ª Coordenadoria Regional de Saúde/RS. 15 nurses, 40 technicians, and 19 nursing assistants were the study’s actors. Numeric data was analyzed by inferencial descriptive statistics. Subjective information was analyzed to the light of symbolic interactionism. Results: The research showed up that taking care of aged people is also a social construction, in which there are patterns in nursing professionals’ symbolic discourse, resulting from the interaction with aged people in the hospital.Central theme is connected to two analysis categories: the first one is about the construction of meanings resulting from the social interactions to the aged, and the second one from the care to the aged in the hospital environment. When the professionals interact with the aged, they construct positive symbols, which are reflected in the way they take care the elders during hospitalization. Nursing care includes: dialog, know how to listen, assurance, claim’s appreciation and families’ support. Conclusion: Nursing team professionals’ living during the process of taking care the aged people in the hospital requires knowledge about the aging process, also about policies of attention to the aged ones, prevention of functional incapacities, promotion of a healthful aging process, and treatment for morbidities and rehabilitation, with the goal of thinking and making from gerontogeriatric nursing a new way to exercise their praxis. |
