The aim of this study was to analyze the pulp chamber roof topography from extracted human permanent first upper molars taking into account the presence and size of the Carabelli Tubercle (CT). Thirty (30) upper molars were divided into three groups of ten (10) samples. Group1: showing pronounced CT; Group 2: showing lightly pronounced CT; Group 3: absence of CT. The samples were abraded transversally on an oclusal-cervical direction until all pulp horns were exposed and then on an apical-cervical direction in order to eliminate the pulp chamber floor without touching the corresponding roof. The specimens were photographed and the number of pulpal horns registered. The shape of the pulp chamber roof was drawn using lines tangential to the pulpal horns. All specimens presented four (04) pulpal horns. The pulp chamber was trapezium- to square-shaped in all cases. It appears from the present study that the pulp chamber roof from first upper molars is trapezium- to square-shaped due to the presence of four (04) pulpal horns irrespective of the CT presence or size.
