Abstract: Este trabalho visa avaliar a cobertura parcial do revestimento poroso plasma spray (PS) utilizado em implantes de quadril.
This search aim for evaluate the partial cover from the plasma spray coating (PS) used in hip implants. Various commercial implants, new and used, national and imported from USA and Portugal, considered gold standard, were tested. The results of the national implants were before analyzed and was suggested a sandblast previous the deposition with the objective of increase the adhesion from coating to base metal. New tests were done to prove the efficiency in the optimization of process, in the adherence of PS layer. The orientations were determined by ASTM F 1854-01 and the traction tests and chemistry analysis, according to the norms ASTM E3, E883, C 633-01, ISO 468, ISO 5832. The evaluations were done using optical microscopy (MO), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), spectroscopy of X-ray by dispersive energy (EDS) and traction tests, with universal testing machine. It was proved that the adhesion to the new implant got better in 100%, the PS layer decreased in approximately 21% and the empty volume decreased in 16%. It was also verified the osseointegration (bone x implant), after ninety days implanted and realized that it actually occur and it’s trustful.
