| Abstract: | A seguinte dissertação se ocupa da identificação de questões referentes a Segunda Guerra Mundial (1939-1945,) vivenciadas na cidade de Porto Alegre, principalmente pelo grupo judaico, após a declaração de guerra brasileira (1942). Partimos de uma contextualização histórica do Estado Novo (1937-1945), caracterizando o governo em vigência e suas ações nos planos externo e interno. Tais características federais se fizeram presentes nas ações relativas ao contexto de guerra. Através da utilização da imprensa e de depoimentos orais, identificamos algumas presenças da guerra no dia-a-dia da cidade e de sua população. Entre elas: problema de transportes, escassez de combustíveis, a introdução do “pão de guerra”, a preocupação com a defesa passiva da cidade, a alta de preços e falta de alguns produtos, a mobilização da população à guerra e ao governo, entre outras. Buscamos então, através da análise de depoimentos orais do Acervo do Instituto Marc Chagall, memórias dos imigrantes judeus sobre o período, de forma a identificar especificidades vivenciadas pela comunidade.
The following dissertation deals with the identification of issues regarding the World War II (1939-1945), which were experienced in the city of Porto Alegre, chiefly by the Jewish group following the Brazilian declaration of war (1942). We start off with a historical background of the Estado Novo (New State) (1937-1945), characterizing the government in effect and its actions on foreign and domestic plans. Such federal characteristics were present in the actions related to the context of war. Through the press as well as through oral testimonies, we have identified presences of the war in the everyday life of the population of the city, namely transportation problem, fuel shortage, introduction of the “war bread”, concern about the passive defense of the city, price rise and lack of some goods, mobilization of the population for war and for the government, among others. Thus, we evoke memories of Jewish immigrants over that period of time through the analysis of oral testimonies from the Collection of the Marc Chagall Institute, in order to identify particularities experienced by the community. |
