História e fotojornalismo nas páginas do jornal Última Hora (RS): imprensa e política na crise da legalidade (1961)

Abstract

Este trabalho procura mostrar como a crise da legalidade, ocorrida em Porto Alegre entre os dias 25 de agosto e 13 de setembro de 1961, foi representada pelos repórteres-fotográficos e suas fotografias, publicadas no jornal Última Hora Riograndense. O tema abordado gira em torno da questão de como os fotógrafos atuaram e representaram aquele contexto de crise institucional, levando em conta as condições técnicas da fotografia e, além disso, como estes profissionais de imprensa se colocaram frente aos interesses sociais e políticos daquele momento histórico. A dissertação também problematizou a produção da notícia e o lugar da imagem fotográfica na imprensa e seu papel na construção de significações sociais.

This work intends to show how the crisis of legality, that happenned in Porto Alegre between 25th August and 13th September 1961, was represented by the photojounalists of the Última Hora Riograndense newspaper and their photographs. The question researched is about how the photographers acted and represented that particular context of institutional crisis, given the technical conditions of photography itself. Also, we intended to know how this press professionals standed in front of the social and political interests of that historical moment. This dissertation also questions the making of the news and the place of the photographic image in the press, as well as its role in the building of social meaning.
