| Abstract: | A presente dissertação enfoca a questão do sufrágio feminino sob a ótica do jornal Correio do Povo da cidade de Porto Alegre. A inserção de grandes massas na vida política é um fato bastante recente, o sufrágio universal e a igualdade do voto só foram conquistados, de uma maneira geral, nos primeiros decênios do século XX. No Brasil é com a promulgação do Código Eleitoral em 1932 que as mulheres alcançam tal direito. Por acreditar que a questão do voto é uma faceta importante da participação feminina no espaço público e uma conquista recente – pouco mais de 70 anos – é que se deu a proposta desta pesquisa. Na busca de tal intento, selecionou-se 262 matérias veiculadas entre os meses de dezembro de 1930 e julho de 1934, marcos temporais da pesquisa. Para se analisar o corpus documental da pesquisa elegeu-se como método a Análise de Conteúdo baseada, principalmente, nas obras de Laurence Bardin e Albert Kientz. Procurou-se destacar o papel desempenhado pelo estado do Rio Grande do Sul em tal discussão, além de se mostrar uma das tantas maneiras de se trabalhar com a imprensa como fonte primária. Foi dado destaque a uma abordagem tanto quantitativa, quanto qualitativa do mote proposto.
The present thesis focuses on the question of the feminine suffrage under the viewpoint of the newspaper Correio do Povo, from the city of Porto Alegre. The insertion of the masses in the political life of societies is a considerably recent fact: the universal suffrage and the equality of the vote have been conquered, in general, during the first decades it century XX. In Brazil, women reached such right with the promulgation of the Electoral Code, in 1932. The proposal of this research is based on of the belief that the question of the vote is one important source of the feminine participation in the public space and, at the same time, a very recent conquest – little more than 70 years. To accomplish this proposal, 262 news, published between the months of December of 1930 and July of 1934 (the time period encompassed by research) were selected. To analyze this documental body, the Content Analysis technique, as mainly established in the books of Laurence Bardin and Albert Kientz, was chosen as method. The intent was to highlight the role played by the state of Rio Grande do Sul in such debate, and to show one of the many ways of working with the press as primary source. Both quantitative and qualitative approaches were employed and emphasized in the development of this inquiry. |
