| Resumen: | O objetivo principal desta dissertação é a realização de um estudo descritivo e explanatório sobre o fenômeno sintático cluster em uma abordagem gerativista, tendo em vista sua importância para a aprendizagem da língua inglesa por aprendizes brasileiros. Para que tal meta fosse alcançada tivemos como motivação inicial o fato, constatado por muitos professores de inglês, que grande parte dos alunos brasileiros têm dificuldade em processar esses grupos nominais, típicos da língua inglesa. Partimos da hipótese que a aprendizagem dessas estruturas é problemática para falantes da língua portuguesa por uma questão de variação paramétrica entre o português e o inglês, uma vez que as referidas línguas seguem padrões estruturais diferentes. Em nosso trabalho, primeiramente, procedemos a uma revisão bibliográfica sobre a aquisição da segunda língua a partir do Gerativismo, abordando as questões mais relevantes que envolvem o tema como o acesso à GU na ótica de diferentes pesquisadores, o papel exercido pela língua materna na aquisição da L2, a parametrização de adjetivos nas referidas línguas e uma análise e explanação sobre os clusters. A fim de enriquecer a discussão teórica, buscamos dados empíricos através de uma pesquisa exemplificatória que investigasse o desempenho de alunos brasileiros e que confirmasse ou não nossas hipóteses iniciais. Como contribuição, esperamos que este trabalho sirva como reflexão para os professores de inglês e que os auxilie em sua prática docente.
The main goal of this thesis is a descriptive and explanatory study of noun groups known as clusters in a generative approach, bearing in mind its importance for the English language learning. To accomplish this task, our starting point was a belief, shared by many English teachers, that most Brazilian students have difficulty in processing such noun structures, which are typical of the English language. As a starting point we believe that Brazilian students of English have a hard time in dealing and mastering such noun groups due to a parametric variation between Portuguese and English, once both languages follow different noun phrase patterns. In the organization of this thesis we presented, first of all, a general overview about second language acquisition from a Generative perspective. In order to do so, we dealt with the most relevant issues related to the topic of L2 language acquisition such as UG access from the point of view of different researchers, the role played by the mother tongue in acquiring a second language, adjective parametric variation in the languages mentioned above and finally an analysis and explanation of clusters. To enrich the discussion, empiric data were gathered by means of a research in order to confirm or not our initial hypotheses. This paper’s contribution is to help English teachers who teach the language in Brazil to reflect more about the topic of adjectives and clusters. |
