O que é cultura nos cadernos de cultura: uma análise dos suplementos da Zero Hora e Correio do Povo

Abstract

Este trabalho busca compreender como a cultura é representada nos suplementos culturais dos jornais Zero Hora e Correio do Povo, investigando a presença de manifestações culturais diversas e periféricas. A pesquisa adota uma abordagem descritiva e comparativa, utilizando métodos qualitativos e quantitativos para analisar características editoriais, como espaço dedicado à cultura, temas abordados (artes visuais, literatura, música e teatro) e a representatividade de expressões culturais das periferias e da cultura regional. Por meio de uma amostragem sistemática, foram selecionadas edições de fim de semana desses cadernos culturais ao longo de diferentes meses, com o objetivo de garantir uma análise abrangente e consistente. O estudo se baseia em revisão teórica sobre cultura e jornalismo cultural, fundamentando-se em autores como Raymond Williams e Stuart Hall, além de empregar categorias analíticas para investigar padrões editoriais. A análise busca avaliar se os jornais priorizam ou marginalizam manifestações culturais de grupos periféricos, promovendo uma reflexão crítica sobre o papel desses veículos na construção da memória e identidade cultural de Porto Alegre e do Rio Grande do Sul.

This study aims to understand how culture is represented in the cultural supplements of the newspapers Zero Hora and Correio do Povo, exploring the presence of diverse and peripheral cultural expressions. The research adopts a descriptive and comparative approach, using both qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze editorial characteristics such as the space dedicated to culture, the topics covered (visual arts, literature, music, and theater), and the representation of cultural expressions from peripheral and regional communities. Through a systematic sampling method, weekend editions of these cultural supplements from various months were selected to ensure a comprehensive and consistent analysis. The study is based on a theoretical review of culture and cultural journalism, relying on authors such as Raymond Williams and Stuart Hall, and employs analytical categories to investigate editorial patterns. The analysis aims to assess whether the newspapers prioritize or marginalize cultural manifestations from peripheral groups, promoting a critical reflection on the role of these media outlets in shaping the cultural memory and identity of Porto Alegre and Rio Grande do Sul.
