Os biocombustíveis no Brasil e a relação entre os mercados agrícolas e de energia

Abstract

O objetivo do presente trabalho de pesquisa é analisar a evolução dos biocombustíveis no Brasil e verificar a existência de integração entre os mercados agrícolas e de energia no país. Para tanto, está estruturado no formato de dois artigos. O primeiro apresenta informações relativas ao setor de biocombustíveis à luz do Programa Nacional de Produção e Uso do Biodiesel e o segundo, através da análise dos preços agrícolas, dos preços dos combustíveis fósseis e dos preços dos biocombustíveis, verifica a existência de integração entre esses mercados. As conclusões observadas são de que a produção de biocombustíveis no Brasil evoluiu muito nos últimos anos, mas questões relevantes ainda precisam ser revistas, como a utilização de novas matérias-primas, não alimentícias, a redução dos preços e maior inclusão da agricultura familiar. Isto é corroborado pelos resultados obtidos que indicaram uma forte integração entre os mercados de soja, diesel e biodiesel.

This study analyzes the evolution of biofuels in Brazil and examines the integration between agricultural and energy markets in Brazil. In order to do that, it is organized in two articles. The first one presents information concerning the biofuel sector from the National Program for Production and Use of Biodiesel. The second article, through the analysis of agricultural prices, as well as the prices of fossil fuels and biofuels, verifies the existence of integration between these markets. The conclusions observed are that the production of biofuels in Brazil has developed quite a lot in the last years, but relevant questions must be revised, such as the use of new non-food raw materials, the reduction of prices and greater inclusion of family agriculture. This is corroborated by the results obtained, which showed strong integration between the soya, diesel and biodiesel markets.
