The research focuses on the process of adapting of short stories by Caio Fernando Abreu for a feature film screenplay. Aiming to develop a screenplay from the book “Morangos mofados” (ABREU, 1982), the thesis follows a methodology refined during its development: the analysis of the author’s work in a cinematic sense, an examination of previous Abreu’s film adaptations, and the reflection about movies with parallel narratives. The studies are anchored in the literary and audiovisual criticism and act as a prelude to the presentation of the creative process, divided into three steps: the first encounters with the material to be adapted, the scriptwriting itself, and the cogitation on its creation. CAIO FERNADO ABREU E O CINEMA: O PROCESSO DE ADAPTAÇÃO DE MORANGOS MOFADOS blends theory and practice, offering a particular approach on the issue of the transformation of literary texts onto film, more specifically upon the adaptation from short stories into a feature film. |
