Internet e terceira idade: consumo e efeitos em usuários do extremo Oeste do Paraná

Abstract

No presente estudo, buscamos algumas pistas para melhor compreendermos de como estão sendo construídos os novos espaços de cidadania, o ciberespaço, a cibercultura, realizando uma breve revisão histórica e bibliográfica, que norteiam os estudos das novas tecnologias da comunicação, envolvendo a internet e pessoas idosas. Investigaremos com maior profundidade os hábitos de consumo na Internet por pessoas da Terceira Idade, acima dos 60 anos. O fato constatado que demanda atenção, sob vários aspectos, e , em especial, o nível de inclusão digital desta parcela da população brasileira, representada neste estudo pelos idosos do extremo Oeste do Paraná. Diante do uso da Internet pela Terceira Idade, analisamos o consumo, os efeitos e os impactos proporcionados, considerando a realidade decorrente dos avanços e das inovações tecnológicas do século XXI.

The main objective of this research is to understand how new citizenship, cyberspace and cyberculture spaces are built, presenting a brief history and bibliographical review that guide the study of new communication technologies, considering the Internet and elderly people. We briefly investigate the Internet consumption habits by elderly people over 60 years. The fact that is particularly highlighted, in many aspects, is the level of digital inclusion of the Brazilian population that is represented by the elderly people in the Extreme West of Paraná, in this study. Through the use of Internet by elderly people, we analyzed the consumption and the impacts that it causes, considering the reality that comes from technology advances and innovation in the XXI century.
