“Me torne um menino de verdade”: traçando um imaginário sobre o filme Inteligência artificial

Abstract

Em uma sociedade imediatista e cada vez mais tecnológica, a inteligência artificial se faz cada vez mais presente na vida cotidiana das pessoas. Quando pensada na área do entretenimento, o cinema é um dos segmentos que mais se utiliza dessa ferramenta, abordando suas ramificações em filmes de ficção científica. Diante disso, este trabalho de conclusão de curso se propõe a analisar um renomado filme, intitulado A.I Inteligência Artificial, lançado em 2001 e dirigido por Steven Spielberg. Com base na metodologia de Análise de Conteúdo, de Laurence Bardin, o problema de pesquisa reside na seleção de sete imagens do longa, no intuito de categorizá-las para melhor compreender quais recursos imagéticos Spielberg usou para impactar os espectadores. Portanto, os objetivos deste projeto se voltam para a análise de cenas marcantes do filme com o fim de compreender quais recursos imagéticos foram utilizados, a dissertação da obra cinematográfica, a compreensão dos conceitos de inteligência artificial, tecnologia e imaginário, como também a análise, categorização e interpretação das imagens selecionadas quando comparadas entre si. A partir das cinco categorias analisadas (tecnologia, família, fantasia, identidade e humanismo) foi constatado que a obra cinematográfica ajudou a produzir um imaginário sobre inteligência artificial, trazendo o questionamento se sua antecipação foi pertinente e se diz algo sobre esse futuro que já chegou.

Artificial intelligence is a vital aspect of everyone's daily life in our rapidly evolving technological society. When it comes to the entertainment industry, cinema is one of the segments that utilizes this subject the most, addressing its implications in films in the science fiction genre. Considering these circumstances, this course completion work suggests examining a well-known film called A.I Artificial Intelligence, which was released in 2001 and directed by Steven Spielberg. Lawrence Bardin's Content Analysis methodology was applied to explore seven images from the film, allowing to categorize and better understand which image resources Spielberg utilized to make an impact on viewers. Therefore, the objectives of this project focus on the analysis of notable scenes from the film in order to understand which image resources were used, the dissertation of the cinematographic work, the understanding of the concepts of artificial intelligence, technology and imaginary, as well as the analysis, categorization and interpretation of the selected images when compared to each other. From the five categories analyzed (technology, family, fantasy, identity, and humanism) it was found that the cinematographic work helped to produce an imaginary about artificial intelligence, raising the question of whether its anticipation was relevant and if something is said about this future that has already arrived.
