Mofo e neve: a cegueira do puer aeternus

Abstract

Este é um trabalho sobre a difícil tarefa de se instalar na vida e o que pode nos manter distante dela. A parte teórica consiste em um ensaio, no qual me debruço sobre a peça A festa de aniversário, de Harold Pinter, e comparo Stanley ao arquétipo do puer aeternus; para tal, apoiome nas obras da Psicologia Analítica, principalmente nas de Marie-Louise von Franz e Ann Yeoman. Fazendo essa aproximação, intenciono aprofundar o entendimento de Stanley como uma figura do não conformismo, salientando aquilo que o mantém petrificado na pensão onde a peça se passa e lançando luz a alguns aspectos pouco explorados da personagem. A parte criativa, por outro lado, consiste em uma peça lírica escrita a partir do motivo do puer; para a compor, baseei-me tanto nos textos citados no ensaio quanto na experiência pessoal do arquétipo. A peça lida com a morte de um homem de identidade incerta que afirma nunca ter visto neve, mesmo que esteja rodeado dela.

This work is about the difficult task of settling into life and what keeps us away from it. It is divided into two sections. The theoretical section consists of an essay, in which I look at Harold Pinter's The Birthday Party, comparing the character Stanley to the archetype of the puer aeternus; for this purpose, I draw from works of Analytical Psychology, especially those of Marie-Louise von Franz and Ann Yeoman. Through this approximation, I intend to deepen the understanding of Stanley as a figure of non-conformism, emphasizing that which keeps him petrified in the boarding house where the play is set and bringing light to some of the character's least explored aspects. The creative section, on the other hand, consists of a lyrical play written from the puer motif; to compose it, I used as a basis not only the works cited in the essay but also my personal experience of the archetype. The play deals with the death of a man of uncertain identity who affirms never to have seen snow, even though he is surrounded by it.
