This work has examined special language in Physics classes at the secondary school level and their links with learning. It begins by a methodological approach to teaching that we call to teach through research in class. This dissertation presents the results of a research about the specific vocabulary used in Physics classes, investigating possible changes that may be produced by investing in new curricular organizations. The results demonstrate that secondary students have a weak understanding of concepts expressed in language used in Physics classes, and that new ways of teaching, based on socio-cultural theories, with emphasis on language, may improve students understandings of Physics concepts. |
