Stabilometry is defined as a biomechanical method that aims to quantify human balance by means of the measurement of a subject’s centre of pressure (COP). Dynamic platforms cause mechanical stimulation on a subject’s feet and are used to evaluate the balance human dynamic balance. This type of biomechanical tool, however, is not easily found in the Brazilian commercial market. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a Stabilometer based on a tri-axial accelerometer, according to Nasher’s platform. The results showed that the developed Stabilometer prototype has become more mechanically and electrically stable than the earlier developed prototypes (prototypes 1 &2). The developed prototype, based on a careful study of human physiology has shown itself to be quite stable and meets the proposed goals. It should be noted that the developed Stabilometer when built is easy to install and inexpensive when compared with commercial equipment. With this Stabilometer it is routinely possible to measure the balance of individuals requiring such assistance in the treatment and prevention of diseases that compromise the visual and sensory systems.
