dc.description.abstractIntroduction: The aging process occurs in different ways in each person. The increases in the life expectancy levels are evident worldwide. Until the year 2025 Brazil will be the sixth country with the largest number of elderly in the world. The demographic revolution represents one of the greatest social challenges of History and enhances the need for public policies for management and approach of such new reality. Goals: To evaluate the domains of quality of life (WHOQOL-OLD) and the ability of decision making (Questionnaire for Evaluation of the Moral and Psychological Development) of the elderly that take part of the socio-therapeutic groups of the town of Arroio do Meio/RS, Brazil. Method: The study is described as transversal, observative, descriptive, developed among individuals aged of 60 years or more, from both male and female genders, living in the town of Arroio do Meio. The participants had to be members of the socio-therapeutic groups and formally agree to participate through the signature of the Informed Consent and guided interviews and the response of questionnaires that evaluate the domains of quality of life and decision making. Results: The sample os this study was formed by 133 elderly, aged between 60 and 89 years (average 69. 02 + 6,5 years old). 81 (60. 9%) female and 52 (39. 1%) male. The educational level of the participants was: 95 (71. 42%) of them did not have complete the basic education program and three of them haven't even learned how to read and write. In the evaluation of the WHOQOL-OLD criteria, the average well function of the senses was of 42. 14 + 11. 85; autonomy 38. 68 + 16. 76; past, present and future activities 49 + 16. 77; social participation 68. 93 + 18. 06; death and dying 27. 88 + 17. 24; intimacy 69. 12 + 23. 52. The general score was of 49. 29 + 6. 88. The psycho-moral development of the participants was stronger among the phases of awareness and autonomy. The average was of 4. 4, being placed in the phase of awareness. Conclusion: The elderly from Arroio do Meio are satisfied with the ability of establishing intimate and personal relationships and with social participation in the community. They have low global score on quality of life, but are totally capable of taking their own decisions.en_US
dc.description.abstractIntrodução: O processo de envelhecimento ocorre de forma diferenciada em cada pessoa. Mundialmente, percebemos um aumento no número e na expectativa de vida dos idosos. O Brasil, até o ano de 2025, será o sexto país com maior número de idosos no mundo. Essa revolução demográfica representa um dos maiores desafios sociais da história, e realça a necessidade de políticas públicas para gerenciamento e abordagem dessa nova realidade. Objetivos: Avaliar os domínios da qualidade de vida (WHOQOL-OLD) e a capacidade de tomada de decisão (Questionário de Avaliação do Desenvolvimento Psicológico Moral) de idosos que participam de Grupos Socioterápicos (Grupos de idosos) da cidade de Arroio do Meio, RS. Métodos: Estudo caracterizado como transversal, observacional, descritivo, realizado em indivíduos com idade igual ou superior a 60 anos, de ambos os sexos, moradores da cidade de Arroio do Meio. Os participantes freqüentavam os Grupos Socioterápicos, consentiram sua participação assinando o termo de consentimento e, por meio de entrevistas auto-aplicadas assistidas, responderam aos questionários. Resultados: A amostra deste estudo foi composta por 133 idosos, com idades que variaram de 60 a 89 anos, com média de 69,02+6,5 anos de idade; desta amostra, 81(60,9%) idosos eram do sexo feminino e 52 (39,1%) do sexo masculino. A escolaridade dos participantes foi: 95(71,42) idosos não completaram o 1º grau, 31(23,30%) possuem o 1º grau completo, um idoso completou o 2º grau, três idosos não completaram o 2º grau e três são analfabetos. Na avaliação dos domínios do WHOQOL-OLD, Funcionamento dos sentidos obteve média de 42,14+11,85; Autonomia de 38,68+16,76; Atividades passadas, presentes e futuras 49+16,77; Participação social alcançou a média de 68,93+18,06; Morte e morrer atingiu 27,88+17,24; o domínio Intimidade alcançou 69,12+23,52. O escore geral foi de 49,29+6,88. O desenvolvimento Psicológico-Moral dos participantes predominou nas fases Conscienciosa e Autônoma. A média foi de 4,4, situando-os na fase Conscienciosa. Conclusão: Os idosos de Arroio do Meio apresentam-se satisfeitos com a capacidade de estabelecer relacionamentos íntimos e pessoais e com a participação social na comunidade. Apresentaram um escore global de qualidade de vida baixo, mas são completamente capazes de tomar decisões em seu melhor interesse.pt_BR
