| pt_BR |
dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study was to evaluate the dento-skeletal effects of the headgear (HG) high traction. The total sample comprised 44 Brazilian individuals between entre 9 and 13 years old. The experimental group had twenty four individuals with Class II division 1 malocclusion treated by HG high traction (OrthoCap and conventional cap). The control group included 20 individuals with Class I malocclusion which was not treated during the period of the study. All individuals had two telerradiographies: initial (T1) and progress (T2), which was taken after 6 months of observation. Cephalometric points were digitalized into Dentofacial Planner Plus software to obtain the cephalometric measurements. In the statistical analysis Student’s t test was used to compare values of T1 and T2 in each group and for comparison of the differences (T1-T2) between groups. Results showed that treatment with HG high traction provoked restriction of forward growth of the maxilla (p<0. 05) and maxillo-mandibular relationship was improved, with reduction of the ANB (p<0,05). Superior molars moved toward distal with distal inclination (p<0. 05) e there was no significant change in the upper incisors. | en_US |
