| Abstract: | A presente dissertação de Mestrado em Teologia, Freud e o retorno do sagrado: a sobrevivência e reconfiguração do religioso na contemporaneidade, estuda as ideias religiosas de Freud a partir da análise da sua própria literatura. Partindo da previsão freudiana de que a religião iria desaparecer mediante a supremacia da razão, examina o período pósfreudiano procurando seguir o itinerário do religioso nesse período. Constata-se uma paulatina perda de plausibilidade da religião, especialmente enquanto fundamento do social na modernidade, na mesma proporção em que cresce a racionalidade científica. A razão como última instância de apelação desacredita toda afirmação não demonstrável empiricamente, entre as quais se incluem as verdades religiosas. No entanto, os fundamentos da modernidade começam a ruir mediante o esgotamento da razão, e com ela a própria modernidade. Uma nova condição de existência se instala ressacralizando o mundo, fazendo ressurgir a religião em uma configuração pós-moderna, o que vem sendo denominado como o retorno do sagrado. Por fim, retomam-se as ideias religiosas de Freud num diálogo com a teologia.
This Master's thesis in theology, Freud and the return of the sacred: the survival and reconfiguration of religion in contemporaneity focuses on Freud's religious ideas from the analysis of his own works. Starting from Freud's prediction that religion would disappear given the supremacy of reason, the thesis examines the post-Freudian period trying to track down the religious during this time. There has been a gradual loss of the plausibility of religion, especially as the social foundation of modernity, in the same proportion that has been a growth of scientific rationality. The grounds of appeal ultimately discredits any claim that cannot be empirically provable, among which religious truths. However, the foundations of modernity begin to crumble with the depletion of reason, along with modernity itself. A new condition of existence settles the re-sacralizing of the world, making a resurgence of religion in a postmodern setting, which has been termed as the return of the sacred. Finally, the thesis recasts Freud's religious ideas in dialogue with theology. |
