PUCRS Institutional Repository has the mission to collect, register, organize, maintain, preserve and provide free online access to the academic, scientific and cultural production of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul, increasing its visibility through the sharing of its institutional production and integration in national and international network information systems, using interoperability techniques and following international standards.
The contents of PUCRS Institutional Repository are organized in Communities and their Collections. The Repository includes digital copies of articles, papers in proceedings, books, book chapters, theses, dissertations, technical reports, artistic and cultural production, institutional documents, etc..
The advantages of using the Institutional Repository to store and reproduce academic, scientific and cultural contents are:
Visibility and Accessibility
The works are made available online, with open access, allowing easy location using search tools and databases (Google Scholar, for instance), which can increase the possibilities of citation and use of information by the community.
Permanence and secure storage
The Repository offers an alternative to ensure PUCRS' academic and scientific production is indefinitely preserved in digital format, stored in a safe and controlled environment, regardless of eventual termination of the author's link with the institution or extinction of the relevant field of research. The repository software ensures online stability of researchers' work, and citations of this source are as reliable as references to an academic journal, although it is as easily accessible as any website.
The repository supports various file formats. In addition to the main work, other related materials (such as data, images, audio and video files, etc.) can be stored, expanding the possibilities of academic research.
