| Abstract: | A presente monografia tem como objetivo compreender como é feita a construção e representação das personagens femininas nas obras de animação no ocidente e no oriente. Em um recorte mais específico, o trabalho tem como objeto de pesquisa os filmes do diretor e roteirista Hayao Miyazaki. Para tal, serão abordadas as ondas feministas e a imagem da mulher, no entretenimento ocidental com as Princesas Disney, e no oriental com os animes shōnen e o Studio Ghibli. Além disso, recorre-se aos conceitos de representatividade, identidade e estereótipos. Desenvolvida com caráter exploratório e qualitativo, a monografia utilizou de revisão bibliográfica e documental, seguidas pela análise de conteúdo de quatro filmes: “O Serviço de Entregas da Kiki” (1989), “Princesa Mononoke” (1997), “A Viagem de Chihiro” (2001) e “O Castelo Animado” (2004). A fundamentação teórica é baseada, principalmente, nos estudos de Beauvoir (2009 [1949]), England et. al, (2011), Whelan (2012), Fantoni (2015) e LeBlanc e Odell (2009). Após a análise, foi possível compreender que, em sua maioria, as personagens femininas seguem o padrão de beleza imposto pela sociedade, bem como possuem suas personalidades e narrativas construídas em torno dos personagens masculinos das obras. Também foi possível notar que, dessemelhante das princesas da Disney, Miyazaki dá vida a personagens diferentes, tanto em aparência física quanto personalidades. Elas não seguem o padrão de beleza, não possuem necessariamente um par romântico e não reforçam nenhum estereótipo. É possível inferir, portanto, que Hayao Miyazaki criou personagens que fogem dos padrões adotados pela indústria considerada machista. Ele construiu narrativas que valorizam a mulher e que trazem aspectos reais, não idealizados.
The following monograph aims to comprehend how the construction and representation of female characters in animation works in the west and east. In a more specific approach, the research object is the films of director and screenwriter Hayao Miyazaki. Thereby, feminist waves and the image of women in Western entertainment with Disney Princesses and in Eastern entertainment with shōnen anime and Studio Ghibli will be addressed. Furthermore, the concepts of representativeness, identity and stereotypes are used. Developed with an exploratory and qualitative character, the monograph used a bibliographic and documentary review, followed by the content analysis of four films: "Kiki's Delivery Service" (1989), "Princess Mononoke" (1997), "Chihiro's Journey” (2001) and “Howl's Moving Castle” (2004). The theoretical foundation is based mainly on studies by Beauvoir (2009 [1949]), England et. al, (2011), Whelan (2012), Fantoni (2015) and LeBlanc and Odell (2009). After the analysis, it was possible to understand that, for the most part, the female characters follow the standard of beauty imposed by society, as well as having their personalities and narratives built around the male character. It was also possible to note that, unlike Disney princesses, Miyazaki brings different characters to life, both in physical appearance and personalities. They don't follow the standard of beauty, they don't necessarily have a romantic partner and don't reinforce any stereotypes. Therefore, it is possible to infer that Hayao Miyazaki created characters that deviate from the standards created by the industry considered sexist. He built narratives that value women and that bring real, not idealized aspects. |
