A construção de uma memória gaúcha em Santa Catarina

Abstract

Esta dissertação tem como objetivo analisar a construção de uma memória gaúcha em Santa Catarina, a partir da fundação de Centros de Tradições Gaúchas. Um fenômeno sócio-cultural que vem ocorrendo no Estado desde 1957, vem se expandindo e ganhando notoriedade a cada ano. Inicialmente, o trabalho apresenta uma contextualização do surgimento do gaúcho e a formação do seu estereótipo. Esse processo irá resultar em um movimento tradicionalista gaúcho, que irá criar práticas de representações do gaúcho, e o fará através dos Centros de Tradições Gaúchas. Por fim, o trabalho analisa os motivos que levam pessoas de diferentes lugares e grupos étnicos aderir a esse movimento.

This thesis aims at analyzing the construction of a “gaucho” memory in Santa Catarina, from the foundation of Centers for Gaucho Traditions. A socio-cultural phenomenon that has occurred in the state since 1957, which is expanding and gaining notoriety every year. Initially, the work presents a contextualization of the emergence of the “gaucho” and the training of his/her stereotype. This process will have result on a “gaucho” traditionalist movement that will create practical representations of the that, and will do so by the Centers for Gaucho Traditions. Finally, this work analyzes the reasons which have taken people from different places and ethnic groups to join such movement.
