This present thesis aims to present some considerations about the column Garotas in the magazine O Cruzeiro, from 1950 to 1964. It focuses, specially, on developing its narrative threads about some key questions, such as civility and image, contained in the studied column. This column, signed by Alceu de Paula Pena, costume designer and illustrator from Minas Gerais (Brazil), circulated in one of the most emblematic Brazilian magazines of the 20th century. These 2 pages were printed on the weekly magazine of Assis Chateaubriand for uninterrupted 28 years, from 1938 to 1964. This study proposes to analyze how through the graphic art of the column Garotas was made possible the circulation of norms and models of civility and manner to young ladies considered urban, modern and bold during the decades of 1950 e 1960 in Brazil. |
