The present work seeks to study the contemporary visual composing of the character Emília in O Sítio do Picapau Amarelo, verifying the aspects of communication from the doll’s aesthetic representation, supported on social imaginary and on spectacularization of modern/post-modern television image. The research starts with observation and analysis of modernity – period in which Emília appears on screen – verifying and investigating after that, her permanence in post-modernity, scenery where we can identify the main changes in her exhibition, creating questions here discussed, such as the spectacularized figuration in a complex society guided by consumerism. The methodological basis lies on John B. Thompson’s Hermeneutics of Depth (1995) through the combination of the following phases: social-historical analysis, discursive analysis and interpretation/reinterpretation. Having appropriated of this procedure, it is believed to have reached the objectives and answered the problem question, highlighting Emília’s ideological timeless in more than half a century of existence in childish imaginary. |
