| Abstract: | Introduction: The study of the idea of aging by military policemen, associated with their personal goals, stresses the need to know and to refer to the motivational profile of Military Policemen in the process of aging so as to understand and get better results with gerontological education and the commitment to a better quality of life. Objectives: Characterizing the Military Policemen reality, in relation to the preparation for retirement and aging, so as to contribute to the improvement of individual and colective quality of life, when those professionals are on reserve. The personal goals of the military policemen of the 24th Military Police Regiment of the Military Brigade were also analysed as well as possible relationships with their idea of aging. The study also identified the main limitations and implications for a healthy aging that are part of the institutional context of those who were investigated. Besides, it was also proposed to identify reference points which could help to consider Public Policies which promote a qualified police education, associated with the search of a healthy and productive longevity. Method: The methodological procedures and the data analysis were developed in a descriptive qualitative approach, through the qualitative textual analysis proposed by Moraes. The relationship between reading and significance was done through the case study modality. The study was carried out with 11 military policemen of the 24th Military Police Regiment of Alvorada, Rio Grande do Sul, in the period of August 2006 to August 2007, with officials and soldiers, active and retired, summoned volunteers, distributed in positions and ranks. Data collection was carried out through an interview including ten open questions which investigated the idea of aging and personal goals of the military policemen. Results: The data analysis has shown that the perception of the military policemen over aging occurs in biological and social and cultural aspects which are part of the professional context, not considering the military policeman when old. The personal goals of the military policemen involve living a longer time with the family, leisure activities, social participation and health care. Conclusions: That the limitations on a healthy aging concerning the military policemen are due to low salaries, lack of family planning and preparation for a healthy life, retirement and aging itself. It was found that the work done by the military policeman and his financial conditions directly influence his beliefs, values and, mainly, his way of thinking and live his own old age and retirement.
Introdução: O estudo da concepção de envelhecimento de policiais militares da ativa e da reserva remunerada, associada às suas metas motivacionais, destaca a necessidade de conhecer-se e ter como referência seu perfil motivacional em processo de envelhecimento para compreender-se e conseguir melhores resultados com a educação gerontológica e o comprometimento com uma melhor qualidade de vida. Objetivos: Caracterizar a realidade dos Policiais Militares, em relação à preparação para a aposentadoria e ao envelhecimento, visando a contribuir para a melhoria da qualidade de vida individual e coletiva, quando esses profissionais estiverem na reserva. Também analisou as metas motivacionais dos policiais militares do 24º Batalhão de Polícia Militar da Brigada Militar e possíveis relações com a sua concepção de envelhecimento; identificou as principais limitações e implicações para o envelhecimento saudável que permeiam o contexto institucional dos pesquisados. Ainda, propôs-se a identificar pontos de referência, que pudessem auxiliar na reflexão sobre Políticas Públicas promotoras de uma formação policial de qualidade, associada à busca de longevidade sadia e produtiva. Método: Os procedimentos metodológicos e a análise dos dados foram desenvolvidas numa abordagem qualitativa descritiva, mediante a análise textual qualitativa proposta por Moraes. A relação entre leitura e significação se efetivou através da modalidade de estudo de caso. O estudo foi desenvolvido com 11 policiais militares do 24º Batalhão de Polícia Militar de Alvorada, Rio Grande do Sul, no período de agosto de 2006 a agosto de 2007, com oficiais e praças, ativos e inativos convocados voluntários, distribuídos em postos e graduações.A coleta de dados foi realizada através de uma entrevista, composta por dez questões abertas, que investigavam sobre a concepção de envelhecimento dos policiais militares e suas motivacionais. Resultados: A concepção dos policiais militares sobre o envelhecimento ocorre a partir de aspectos tanto biológicos quanto sociais e culturais que permeiam o contexto profissional, não contemplando o policial militar quando idoso. As metas motivacionais dos policiais militares envolvem maior tempo de convivência com a família e atividades de lazer, participação social e cuidados com a saúde. Conclusões: As limitações para o envelhecimento saudável dos policiais militares são decorrentes dos baixos salários, da ausência de planejamento familiar e de preparação para viver com saúde a aposentadoria e o próprio envelhecimento. Constatou-se que o trabalho desenvolvido pelo policial militar e suas condições financeiras influenciam diretamente as suas crenças, valores e, principalmente, a sua forma de pensar e viver a própria velhice e a aposentadoria. |
